The freeway I-670 has been under construction for decades, with a complete closure and rebuilding beginning last March 2002 and finally coming to an end, next weekend.  On September 13th and 14th, 2003, the Short North Business Association and some other local dandies kicked off what they are calling "Via Colori."  That is Italian for "sidewalk snobbery."  Instead of a street festival, it was a freeway festival.

The idea of this festival was to get everyone down on the highway, so that they could have a chance to inspect it and walk on it one time before it opens next weekend.  The draw was that there would be about 200 local artists doing sidewalk chalkings commemorating the occasion right onto the highway.  (And presumably on Monday ODOT is going to wash it all off.)

I decided to put on my 670 T-shirt (yup, made it myself!), go down there on Sunday to see the completed art, and see if this was up to the standards of the usual Coloris I go to.  It was an interesting experience, because it was definite a strange landscape for a street party.  Also, I saw just one other person I know, which is really unusual for a Short North street party.
